Bali is one of the hottest tourist destinations for people all over the world. From the contrast of its white and black sand beaches, to the intoxicating allure of its culture and people, Bali wholly embodies the ultimate forgotten paradise. With miles upon miles of remote land, untouched nature, and vibrant backdrops, it’s no question why we too, were enticed by its wondrous terrain.

This island encapsulates the very definition of authentic cuisine, historically rich culture, beautiful beaches and kind-hearted people. With that in mind, we wanted to immerse ourselves completely and found Ubud to meet our every desire, so we headed there to embark on an incredible four day stay with The Purist Villas.

The Purist Villas are built upon the ancient Hindu beliefs of balance, harmony and purity of spirit; paying homage to the natural environment and nearby jungle, designed to be perfectly harmonious with its surrounding landscapes. This was exactly what we wanted from our Balinese experience and Ubud stay!

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a Virgin Mojito Welcome Drink and a cold towel to cool us down from the ceaseless heat. As we sat back and enjoyed the view of the main pool, the manager approached us to say that we had been upgraded to the Bamboo Villa with our own private sundeck and pool (our straws nearly fell out of our mouths hearing this).

As we entered our own private villa, we looked at one another absolutely speechless. Furnished tastefully and uniquely with traditional artifacts, with a bedroom pool view, and our favorite, an outdoor shower and elevated bathtub… the attention to detail and sheer beauty of this place had our jaws on the floor. We truly felt connected to the spiritual and artistic traditions from the Balinese people and their past.

Once settled in, we scrambled to get on our swimsuits so we could enjoy our personal favorite: pool time. The main pool was just exquisite, surrounded by lush tropical scenery, it was the perfect way to counter the heat.

And as if one pool wasn’t enough, there was a second, large swimming area called the River Pool so of course we had to try both. We wanted to maximize our time at the resort, prioritizing our own exploration of the the hotel's amenities and garden covered grounds.

This resort was exactly what we had hoped it would be. Their 5 star service was unparalleled to any other resort we had seen. With complimentary breakfast offering freshly baked breads, an assortment of tropical fruits, and mouthwatering delights like smoked salmon omelettes and eggs florentine, we were overwhelmed with options each day. As if that wasn’t enough, there was daily complimentary afternoon tea where we could satisfy our taste buds with innovative, plant-based cooking from their world class chefs, accompanied by local tea or cappuccino. Let’s just say we made sure to schedule tea time as an essential part to our day!

We also had the pleasure of viewing the Juglo Residence while on the property. This three bedroom antique Javanese Joglo was the largest on the property, overlooking the estate from its position high atop a hill. This modern styled villa included a master bedroom, royal size twin room and spacious half open air living area accompanied by a massive private pool with Balinese stone carvings. No matter where we turned, the beauty of this place was absolutely breathtaking.

The Purist Villas made us feel instantly at home with their attention to detail, excellent service and cultural artefacts. Our memories of Ubud are inextricably tied to The Purist Villas and we couldn’t imagine visiting Bali without them. Our time in Bali was as sensational as we had hoped it would be and we most definitely plan to be back again soon.
